About the Chestertown Rotary Club

Rotary is a service organization based upon the Four Avenues Of Service: Club Service, Community Service, International Service and Vocation Service. The Rotary Club Of Chestertown is actively engaged in all; for details see the   4 Avenues of Service  menu item to the left.

    This is one of our many local community projects.



    Some areas of service in which our club is most active include the following:

  1. Community Service

    The Chestertown Rotary Club is an active participant in both Local and International Service Projects, with a heavy emphasis on LOCAL.

    Some of the projects that we are, and have been, actively involved in are:

    1. Annual Food Pantry Donations to Chester and Horicon.
    2. Monetary support to North Country Outreach to replace a freezer.
    3. Free Dictionaries to all third graders in North Warren, Minerva, Bolton, and Warrensburg Schools.
    4. Fulfilled $10,000 Pledge for the building of the new Chester Health Center.
    5. Established a unique annual scholarship fund for a North Warren student.
    6. Pledged $1000 to the Helpers' Fund to assist with home heating costs.
    7. Recognition of the North Warren Student of the Month.
    8. Annual sponsorship of North Warren students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA).
    9. Support of North Warren Model OAS Club.
    10. Donations to North Warren Dollars for Scholars Fund.
    11. Little League Sponsorship.
    12. Improvement of the Little League Fields in Brant Lake and Chestertown.
    13. Development of X-Country Trails at Dynamite Hill.
    14. Emergency aid to families facing trauma, such as fires.
    15. Annual visit of Santa Claus with gifts for children.
    16. Adopt a highway highway clean up.
    17. International elimination of polio.

  2. Fundraisers

    3. In order to support the many things that we do, we need to make money.

    These "work projects" are not only a source of revenue, but provide members with a variety of challenges and accomplishments.

    Our main projects are:

    1. Annual Golf Tournament
      1. Held every August at Cronins' Golf Resort.
      2. This has become a real premier golf event.

    2. Annual Garage Sale
      1. Held annually on the front lawn of the Chestertown Town Hall in mid July.

    3. Annual Entertainment Books
      1. Popular sales of books full of coupons for local businesses.
