President's Welcome
On behalf of the men and women of Chestertown Rotary, I am pleased to "Welcome" you to our newly designed website and to Chestertown Rotary!
Special thanks to John Grady for all his work in creating our new site; and also to Bruce Hodgson for getting us started on the web and for maintaining our former site for many years.
Our Rotary Club is part of a renowned world-wide organization that has over 1.2 million members in over 200 countries. We are a service organization: we serve our community and well beyond!
We participate in Highway Clean-Up through the "Adopt a Road" program. We hold our annual Santa program for the youth of our Town. We work in the Chestertown Beautification program. We were instrumental in the development of Dynamite Hill and the Horicon little league field. We award a substantial college scholarship each year to a graduating North Warren student. We recognize and reward a "Student of the Month" and have a very active Interact Club at North Warren. We are now hosting a foreign exchange student from Finland. We provide funding for the Model Organization of American States (MOAS) program at North Warren and also for the Youth Awards Program (RYLA). Our Interact Club has been very active in raising funds for the "End Polio Now" effort of Rotary International. We provided funding for the "Shelter Box" program which is a major part of the Haitian relief effort.
Our fundraising activities include our Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament held at Cronin's Golf Resort in August, our Annual "Garage Sale" held in July at the Town Municipal Center, and the sale of the "Entertainment Book". We provided the initial funding for the Cate Mandigo "Chestertown" prints and still have them for sale.
We have an active social program that, in addition to our weekly meetings, includes our Christmas Party, Valentine's Party and our Installation Dinner.
We welcome all who have an interest in having fun and good fellowship with the goal of making our Town and our World a better place to join our Club. Yes, we have dues - $95 per year and it all goes toward our Club's financial obligation to our District and to Rotary International. We meet at O P Fredericks each Tuesday. The meeting gets started at 6:15 PM after our pre-meeting greetings! Please contact any member of our Club for additional information and enjoy viewing our new website!!
